Cancer group PhD student wins at medical conference

A PhD student with the School of Biological, Biomedical and Environmental Sciences has won first prize at an international medical postgraduate research conference based at the prestigious Charles University Medical School in Prague.

Over two full days of presentations, Becky Bibby, a third year PhD student with the Cancer Biology and Therapeutics lab lead by Dr Stephen Maher, outperformed dozens of PhD students from 12 other medical schools across Europe.

Competing PhD students, chosen to represent their universities through local competitions, presented their doctoral thesis research to a large panel of international leading clinicians and scientists, who assessed presentation style, research excellence and the ability to defend the research.
